My approach is warm and non-judgmental, acknowledging that the reasons why someone might choose to enter into a psychotherapeutic relationship are as diverse as humans themselves. I offer a confidential, holding space within which we can begin to explore the origins of your thoughts and feelings, become more consciously aware of why you might be doing things in certain ways and how this may be influencing everything (and everyone) around you. Part of my earlier life was in natural history Illustration and graphic design. However, my main professional background was in psychiatric nursing, where it became clear to me that what I most enjoyed about being a nurse was my aptitude for intuitively listening and that (far more than medication) the process of talking (and feeling really listened to) seemed to help people to reach some deeper understanding about themselves. Becoming disillusioned with the medical model, I re-trained as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and have continued my studies at Masters level, at BCPC, in Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy. My practice is in the Old Market area of Bristol and I work face to face.
