Counselling

Supportive, empathic counselling at Bristol Talking Therapy Rooms, BS1 6SW, on Zoom and phone.

I am a humanistic integrative counsellor trained at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling.  I have worked with the Southmead Project counselling traumatised adult victims of child abuse; with Mind, counselling people with a variety of mental health issues including people who are shielding because of chronic ill health during Coronavirus; and with Trauma Foundation Southwest, counselling refugees and asylum seekers.

I offer one-to-one support to help you cope with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, pregnancy loss and relationship problems.   I’m particularly interested in how for many people, a strong inner critic can be the greatest challenge.  This is often as a result of difficult issues in childhood, and the strength of positive relationships and self-compassion can help reduce that inner criticism. I am trained in working with the body around trauma and anxiety, and find that this is an effective way to soothe overwhelming feelings..

I am warm and compassionate and will support you to find your way through your difficulties. I offer a variety of ways of working so that I suit your particular needs.  I find the key to counselling is building a trusting relationship.

I offer both short-term counselling focusing on a particular issue or longer-term counselling with ongoing support.  I am fully insured, a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their Ethical Framework.

Counselling costs £55 per 50-minute session. I see clients in person on Wednesdays from 5-9pm and on Thursday afternoons on zoom or by phone.

Supervision

I have space for monthly supervision of therapists.  I have found supervision so helpful myself, I'm a huge advocate of safe, supportive, and congruent supervision.  I pay attention to all the elements of your therapeutic work - your clients, your relationship with your clients, how you work with them, how you are, how/whether my support helps and how the wider world/systems impact your work.   I have particular experience in working with diversity and trauma, but am open to many different modes and types of work.

I charge £55 per 50-minute session.
